After watching a few too many nature documentaries, Angelina was inspired to study biological engineering. She got a B.S. in Bioengineering from the University of Maryland College Park in 2017 and then joined the BE PhD program here at MIT. Angelina is currently in the Voigt lab, a synthetic biology lab, where she is working on engineering bacterial sensors for biological compounds in the soil. Her interest in science communication stems from a firm conviction that science should not exist in a bubble, but rather needs to engage a diverse audience. Aside from science, Angelina loves climbing, painting, reading, and hiking.
